The process
Small two-chamber incinerators for hospital waste use a venturi or packed bed scrubber and an ID fan in stainless steel or FRP. Volumes are small and the duty is intermittent, so the fan is built for corrosion rather than for size.
The gas
Flue gas after the quench and scrubber is wet, acidic and still carries fine dust. The fan is in stainless steel or lined construction, with a shaft seal and drains, sized at the saturated density.
Fans in this process
| Duty | What it does here | Type usually selected |
|---|---|---|
| ID Fan | Sits at the outlet of a boiler, kiln or furnace and draws the flue gas through the plant to the stack. | Backward curved, backward inclined and radial tipped |
| Combustion Air Blower | Feeds a burner with air at the pressure the burner register needs. | Backward curved and radial tipped |
| Dilution Air Blower | Injects ambient air into a hot flue gas stream to bring it down to a temperature the downstream bag filter or fan can accept.. | Backward curved |
| Mist Eliminator | Separates entrained liquid droplets from a vapour or gas stream, ahead of a compressor, a fan or a stack.. | Demister Knockdown Vessel |
