The process
The rotary dryer takes hot air from a furnace and the cooler takes ambient air, both through the product bed with exhaust fans that pull the dust-laden air through cyclones and scrubbers.
The gas
Dryer exhaust with heavy carry-over of the dried material and the moisture it gave up. Dust goes to a cyclone and bag filter, and the fan behind them handles warm, wet gas with residual fines.
Selection for this process
| Role | Pre-collector for the coarse fraction ahead of a bag filter or scrubber |
| Construction | Mild steel with wear plates at the inlet |
| Discharge | Hopper with rotary air lock valve |

Information needed to select or quote
- Gas volume and temperature. Actual flow at the inlet, normal and upset temperature, moisture.
- Dust or pollutant. Inlet loading, particle size distribution, whether it is abrasive, sticky, hygroscopic or combustible; for gases, the species and concentration.
- Required outlet. The emission limit or clean gas concentration the unit must meet.
- Site. Available space and height, material of construction preferences, and how the collected material is to be discharged.
